At See Saw Eyecare, we are passionate about helping everyone reach their full visual potential. Vision therapy is a progressive program of vision procedures performed under doctor supervision and individualized to fit the visual needs of each patient. Therapy is proven to help many vision conditions including, but not limited to, those listed here.

Learning and Reading Problems

80% of what a child will learn at school will be learned through seeing or reading. It’s no wonder, then, that up to 75% of children with learning difficulties complain mainly of problems with reading. Signs of vision problems include skipping or re-reading lines when reading, double vision, trouble focusing, and headaches. Typical vision screenings often miss these problems, but our examinations are built to uncover these silent vision disorders.

Concussions

Studies have shown that a concussion, also known as a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), will result in a functional vision problem 69% of the time. This type of blurry vision, double vision, trouble focusing, and light sensitivity can quickly cause trouble at school and with homework. Vision therapy can help improve visual skills after a concussion just like physical therapy can help after an injury.

“Lazy” or “Crossed” Eyes

Amblyopia/“Lazy Eye“ and Strabismus/”Crossed Eyes” can be successfully treated with vision therapy. Just like physical therapy can improve movements and coordination of muscles of the body, vision therapy can be used to improve eye coordination, straighten eyes and improve vision. Vision therapy is a safe alternative to surgical procedures to straighten the eyes, and can also improve outcomes if surgery has already been performed before.

Vision Impairment

When glasses or contact lenses aren’t enough to get 20/20 vision, or eye diseases cause vision loss, we teach strategies to improve everyday vision tasks. We evaluate and coach in the use of magnifiers, task lighting, activity-specific spectacles, and electronic devices.
